Making your own clothes is not difficult. Commercial patterns will lead you to believe that it is.You just need some basic shapes and a few easy techniques to start making clothes you really want to wear.

Every designer starts from a body shape. They use the same shape over and over again. They make changes - adding here, taking away there - until they have a new design. You can do this too. I'll show you how to start with some simple ideas. Fitting is not difficult either. The more you make the more you will understand what looks good on you and how to adapt shapes to suit your style and your figure.

You will make some mistakes but always finish every garment. Then make it up again in another fabric and correct your mistakes. I promise you, you will still get to wear your first efforts - they may not be perfect but they will still be original.

My videos will show you how easy it is to download and prepare your pattern - it will only take you about ten minutes once you have decided on your size. Start with some inexpensive fabric. The designers use calico when trying out their designs. My styles are very simple. Get yourself a few metres of denim and get started. Whatever you make will be wearable.

I'll show you how to cut out and I'll show you some easy ways to transfer markings for features such as darts. Learn to be accurate - it makes it easier from the beginning and guarantees good results. Lastly, have fun. Sew with a friend - it makes fitting really easy - share the same pattern.
